Intent

Student are going to explore the mask feature in Flash CS5. They will create a "James Bond" effect with an image of themselves.

Your Task

  • Take a photo of yourself (find a buddy who takes the photo)
  • Apply a stylish filter on your photo either in Photoshop or in befunky

  • Open Flash CS5 and create "James Bond" effect using the mask tool of 80 frames (12 fps)

Step-by-Step Animation

  1. Import picture of yourself. File => Import=> to library
  2. Name the layer "picture" and set a keyframe on frame 80.
  3. Create a second layer and name it "mask layer".
  4. Draw on frame 1 a circle on the lower left outside the stage.
  5. Add a keyframe on frame 30. Stay there and resize the circle so that it covers the entire image. Use the free transform tool to do so.
  6. Add a keyframe on frame 50.Stay there and move the circle to the upper right outside the stage.
  7. Add a keyframe on frame 80. Stay there and resize the circle again so that it covers the image.
  8. Create a shape tween between frame 1 and 30 and between 50 and 80.
  9. Right click the mask layer => select "mask"
  10. Hit CTRL + enter to watch your animation!
